Chiropractor Best
chiropractic best approach to be accepted as a legitimate health and wellness treatment has arrived; as a matter of fact, a Consumer Reports magazines survey back in 2005 resulted in the Las Vegas newspaper, The Daily News Central reporting that among 34,000 readers surveyed, hands on treatment consisting of chiropractic treatment was the most effective in providing relief. Chiropractor best provided a treatment modern more effective than drugs, conventional treatments or alternative methods in providing respite from back and neck pain.
In addition to chiropractic, people who responded to the survey also used such non-medical services as acupuncture, deep tissue message, and herbal remedies, but reported that these were less effective than chiropractic.
Many chiropractors resist being labeled as alternative, maintaining that chiropractic has become a mainstream service. According to the Center for Studies in Health Policy, "The Doctor of Chiropractic can provide all three levels of primary care interventions and therefore is a primary care provider, as are MDs and DOs. The Doctor of Chiropractic is a gatekeeper to the health care system and an independent practitioner who provides primary care services. The DC’s office is a direct access portal of entry to the full scope of service."
Baby Boomers Believe Chiropractic Helps Them be Healthy.

Chiropractic Experts
Chiropractic experts can now report the following….published in the July / August 2004 peer-reviewed scientific journal, "Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics", compared the effects of chiropractic adjustments to muscle relaxants in a group of patients with subacute low back pain.
This study defined subacute low back pain as lower back pain (LBP) with a duration of 2 to 12 weeks. The study noted that in the United States the incidence of low back pain is as high as 75% to 85% of the population being affected at some time in their lives. On a yearly basis, the study noted that between 15% to 20% of the adult population can expect to experience LBP in any given year.
In the study, conducted at Life University in Georgia, 192 subjects with LBP from 2 to 6 weeks were separated into three groups. One group received Chiropractic adjustments with placebo medication. The second group received muscle relaxants with sham (fake) adjustments. The third group was a control group and received both placebo medication as well as the sham (fake) adjustments. Care was rendered to the group for a 4 week period with evaluations being done at the 2 week and 4 week marks.
Results were measured in terms of patient reported pain, severity, disability and depression, as well as measured flexibility and the patients self usage of over the counter acetaminophen (Tylenol). The results of this short study showed that for the two primary indicators of pain and severity, the chiropractic group did better than the other two groups. No significant differences were seen for disability, depression, flexibility, or acetaminophen usage across groups in a study of this short a period of time. All three groups showed improvement in the areas of depression, disability and drug usage.
Their comments were: "Statistically, the chiropractic group responded significantly better than the control group with respect to a decrease in pain scores."
Preferred Chiropractic
preferred chiropratic is a term that is coming int vogue with insurance companies and natural health providers. For instance, those insurance companies that provide chiropratic coverage, may well save money in the long run by eliminating the need for costly surgies or extended use of pain prescriptions; natural health providers realize that this could go a long way toward preventing and/ or elimination of rate increases for medical insurance coverage. The medical community, once very hostile to the Doctor Chiropractic practice is now becoming more open to the chiropratic approach….and so are the insurance companies.

Insurance Coverage Increases Use Of Chiropractic Care
In the February 11, 2002 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine comes an article on a study performed to see if there is a relationship between the usage of what the study called CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) and insurance coverage. Included in the CAM professions, one of the most regularly used is chiropractic care. Past studies showed that an estimated 44% of the US population used at least 1 CAM procedure in 1997. Of those using CAM, 52% had seen at least 1 CAM provider in the last year.
This study was performed by conducting a nationally representative, random household telephone survey of 2055 adults. Not surprising, the study showed that factors independently associated with frequent use (more than 8 visits per year) of a CAM provider were full insurance coverage for the CAM service. This basically means that patients with insurance coverage tended to go to their CAM provider more often than those without insurance. According to the study some of the other factors that increased usage of CAM care include patients with back and neck problems as well as people desiring wellness or preventative care.
In concluding the study states, "A small minority of persons accounted for more than 75% of visits to CAM providers. Extent of insurance coverage for CAM providers and use for wellness are strong correlates of frequent use of CAM providers."
